How to Get Involved in Global Communities?
R

I'm a final year student Learning DevOps. I keep on finding projects and communities in Opensource to join and contribute. I love attending events. I'm looking for remote opportunities in DevOps and OpenSource, community based internships. I'm down for any tech collab. Ping me :)

Getting involved in communities is one of the most important parts of your tech journey. Here are a few action items simplified from Kunal Kushwaha’s video. We’ve preferred Open-Source communities.

Action Items

  1. Find a community to join (Listed below)

  2. Join their Slack community and introduce yourself in the Introduce channel (or Discord)

  3. Follow them on Socials (Twitter, Telegram, Discord). Being involved in communities doesn’t just mean you join them but interact with them. Have some news about what’s going on in the community, and contribute, and reply to questions if you know the answer. Ask Questions if you have a doubt.

  4. Finally, if they have an Open-Source project, and you find it interesting. You can contribute to it, very easily. Find more on Contributing to Open-Source HERE.

  5. One thing to keep in mind is don't join too many communities initially. Join a few good communities and make your presence there first.

Communities to Join:

  • Komodor: LINK | A Kubernetes Operations Platform. Join their Slack and Follow them on Twitter

  • Kubesimplify: Discord link | Recommended for newcomers. It is all about sharing knowledge about tech & DevOps.

  • WeMakeDevs: LINK | This is a community which provides free hands-on training in various fields of computer science and has an inclusive community focusing on a learn-by-doing approach.
